Bubble Wrapped Paintings

"When a friend asked to borrow one of my highly detailed doll paintings, I was concerned about possible damage so I made a large bubble wrap envelope to protect it. When I saw the image broken up by the bubble wrap highlights I had an idea- maybe I could do a painting of a bubble wrapped image.

        In the Flora/Botticelli painting where Flora wears a floral garment  I pierced the the bubbles with real flowers which I picked near my studio.I made quick oil sketches then painted them in strategic areas for added interest." - Berio Gizzi
